Dante M. Bove of Landenberg
Dante M. Bove, 80, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2012, at the Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester. He was the husband of Dorothy Badger Bove, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage. Dante was the son of the late Marco and Columba Basciani Bove. He was born March 1, 1931 in Toughkenamon. Dante attended St. Patrick’s School in Kennett Square and graduated from Kennett High School in 1950. He was drafted into the U.S. Army from 1954-1956 and served in Metz, France. He ran his family’s mushroom growing business for many years before taking an office maintenance job with the DuPont Company. He retired in 1992. Dante was an active member of St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Parish. Dante had many interests and accomplishments including carpentry, vegetable gardening, spending time with his family at the beach, and having fun with his grandchildren. In addition to his wife, Dante is survived by; two daughters, Ellen M. Swenson wife of Thomas Swenson and Amy E. McMullen, wife of Jerry McMullen, Jr. both of Landenberg; and grandchildren, Melinda Coleman (Scott) of Exton, Ryan Swenson of Newark, Del. and Victoria and Allison McMullen of Landenberg. He has one great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Marie Coleman. He is also survived by one sister, Anne Fieni, wife of Dino Fieni of Severna Park, Md. and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two children, Baby Boy Bove and Lori Ann Bove; one brother, Albert Bove; and two sisters, Mary R. Russell and Gloria E. Kridler. Family and friends are invited to visit with Dante’s family from 10 a.m. to 12 noon on Tuesday, January 17, at St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother Church, 8910 Gap-Newport Pike, Avondale, PA 19311. A funeral Mass will follow at 12 noon. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Kennett Square. Contributions can be made to The ARC of Chester County, 900 Lawrence Drive, West Chester, PA 19380.
